SOMATIC THERAPY & HEALING

Somatic therapy is a holistic, body-centered counseling approach that focuses on the connection between the mind and body to heal trauma, stress, and emotional tension stored physically. It uses techniques like breathwork, mindfulness, and physical movement to release stored tension, rather than focusing solely on cognitive talk therapy.

Somatic Therapy:

  • Targeted Conditions: Primarily treats PTSD, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and grief.
  • "Bottom-Up" Approach: Unlike "top-down" traditional therapy (using the brain to change feelings), somatic therapy starts with bodily sensations to affect mental states
  • Techniques Used: Sessions may involve grounding exercises, breathing techniques, physical sensation awareness, dance, yoga, and voice work.

Goal: To help patients become aware of, and release, tension-releasing bodily sensations that indicate stored trauma, eventually calming the nervous system

Vagus Nerve Trauma Healing

The vagus nerve, or cranial nerve X, is the longest component of the parasympathetic nervous system, linking the brain to the heart, lungs, and digestive tract to manage involuntary, "rest-and-digest" bodily functions. It acts as a vital pathway for regulating heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, and immune responses.

Vagus Nerve

  • Synonyms: The vagus nerves are often referred to as cranial nerve X (CN X), the vagal nerves, or the "wandering nerve" due to its extensive pathway from the brainstem down to the abdomen.
  • Primary Functions:
    • Parasympathetic Control: Controls involuntary functions, including slowing heart rate and managing digestion.
    • Sensory and Motor Pathway: Connects the brain to organs, allowing communication with the neck, heart, lungs, and digestive system.
    • Immune System Regulation: Helps reduce inflammation.
    • Brain-Gut Axis: Acts as a bidirectional highway for communication between the brain and gut bacteria.
  • The left and right vagus nerves handle 75% of the body's parasympathetic nerve fibers, acting as the main controller for resting bodily function

 

Animal Communication

For as long as I can remember, I have been connected to animals.  In the recent past, many animals have been drawn to me.  My natural intuitive abilities make it easy for me to understand them. From the bald eagles, hawks and many other wildlife who have taken up residence in the natural environment that surrounds my property, to the dogs who cross my path when out on walks. I have noticed that I don't just see them, but feel them and communicate with them.  This is something that I have been able to do my whole life, but it is only recently that I have discovered how accurate my ability to communicate with them really is.

I have taken courses on Animal Sciences, Behaviours, Naturopath, Reiki and of course, Animal Communications. Knowing, that there would be a time when I needed to step up. Recently, there have been too many synchroneities from animals asking me to communicate for them.   There are many ways animals communicate with us and if we slow down enough, we can hear them. Unfortunately, our lives have become too chaotic making it challenging for us to understand our animals, needs, behaviours and desires.  

That is where I come in.  Connecting with your animal, speaking with them through energy, thought-form, feelings and knowing which allows me to share their messages to you!  Let me help you gain insight into what your pet needs and desires, so that you can help them!
